In class we watched a Ted Talks video by Peter Gray and how he talks about the decline of play. He talked about how kids back in the day were so much happier because they played more often. Kids back in the day were less stressed and had less depression and anxiety. Peter Gray talks about how play is good for our physical, social, and mental health. Because of school, children are overworked and constantly stressed out. I believe that children should have more time to play and that school should lay off the tremendous amounts of homework. In the video, Peter also talks about how children play because they are self-controlled and self-directed. When they are self-controlled and self-directed, they educate themselves. I really liked the Ted Talks video because it related to my life and my childhood and I totally agree with the speakerĀ“s purpose.
